Encouraging Word

This is a beautiful description John tells us in the book of Revelations when John sees Jesus.

I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sunshining in all its brilliance.

What's my {sister's} outfit Wednesday!

My sister has a cute style. I'd say I've taught her everything she knows about style ;)

Mission Trip Recap

I had a wonderful trip! Here are just a few pictures:

Two of the days I worked with kids. We made crafts and even had a water game day! The kids there were adorable. They were so joyful and loved to just run around and play. They were so amazingly trusting and would hold your hand all the time. These cuties made me want to be a mom even more-not for awhile though :)  

This was at a reservoir near to our work site. God's beauty is amazing! These girls are so amazing. I got to know them even better on this trip and see their hearts grow and mature.

The mountains surrounding the land were just gorgeous. I wish we had mountains in Minnesota. 

We took a day trip to Beartooth pass and saw snow! Oh how I haven't missed it :) 

I love summer but seeing snow was okay knowing I wouldn't see it again for months.

We saw a moose! Her baby was with her but you can't see it with my crappy camera. 

This is our entire group of hard workers! I went with Grace Point and another church from Yuma, Colorado was also there. I loved getting to build great relationships with all the wonderful Christians. With Grace Point, we shared our individual testimonies with each other. This made our group so much more close knit. We know each person's trials and strengths and got to understand each other on a deeper level.

I learned so much about the Crow culture. We met with an elder from the community who told us the significance of the tipi and the Crow creation story. I also saw how trusting and open the community was. I was able to talk to many great people and learn so much about the pride they have for their people. 

I've recently been interested in mission work and this trip just furthered my interest into knowing this is what I want to do at some point in my life.

I feel called to help others and maybe this is a way to follow that call. 

I'll write more on this call (and foot washing-now you're interested) after my trip to Guatemala. I'll be there in less than 20 hours! I still have to pack everything...Better get on that.

DIY Maxi to short skirt

Hey! I'm always looking for new ways to reinvent clothes I already have. Here's my latest idea. Best thing: No sewing required! So you can put it right back to a long skirt again.

Start with a maxi skirt (a dress would work too),
Take a scarf ring (like the ones you get when you buy scarves) or an old bangle bracelet,
Thread as much material through the ring as you want.
Roll the material in and out of the ring, wrapping all the way around.
That's it! Easy as pie :)
The maxi skirt is from Target and shirt is Hurley.

Encouraging Word

I got a new bracelet and toe ring this week! 

The saying faith, hope, love comes from 1 Corinthians 13:13.

All of 1 Cor 13 is encouraging and talks about how amazing love is especially when it comes from Above.

What's my outfit Wednesday!

This shirt says "never give up" for cancer research. It's by this company called Sevenly that has a different shirt for a different cause! It's a great way to support a cause in a cute, stylish way!

When I did have shoes on, they were the same ones as in this "what's my outfit Wednesday".

I think it's funny how any piece of clothing or jewelry you find deep in your closet is called "vintage". The anklet I really got in Mexico several years ago.

For that day (or two) after washing your hair, this hairstyle is the best.

Beachy locks

You know how your hair looks so good after swimming in this:

(Playa Asul, Cozumel, Mexico)

Using these products, you can recreate that look:

Mix all of the following in a spray bottle:

about 3/4 bottle of warm water

a couple squirts of Herbal essence totally twisted gel found here

2 tablespoons sea salt such as this

Spray a generous amount while scrunching your hair continuously. 

Add garnier fructis style spray to add shine and to smooth out your hair.

Read 2 Peter 1:3-9:

"His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins."

We are sinful. The more we realize that, the more we need to realize the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

What's my outfit Wednesday!

My dress is from Target but I stencil painted the design on:

It's tough to see but the design goes from pale yellow to white (right to left).

My fringe boots are Minnetonka Moccasins, aren't they fun!

I'm playing around with the sunlight on my new camera. 

I don't know if it's turning out how I want it to turn out yet.

I'm packing for my mission trip and wanted to leave you with this verse:

I will praise God while in the First Nation this coming week.

End of School...Beginning of Summer

Schools out! I'm finished with my junior year of high school. It was full of ups and downs but more importantly I grew closer to God. Next year I look forward to being a part time senior in high school and a part time freshman in college (for Post Secondary Enrollment Option). I'll be taking 3 classes at high school and 2 at college. I'm ready for the challenge and change of pace.
Summer has a lot in store for me. 
Saturday I am leaving for a mission trip on the Crow Reservation in Montana with Youth Works. It's with 15 other kids from my youth group. I'm hoping to serve these people and show them the light of Christ. I'll be doing whatever they need done: anything from repairing houses to cleaning to working with kids. I'm very excited for it is my first mission trip!
Only a few days after I get back from Montana, I'll be on a plane to Guatemala. I'm going to volunteer through Common Hope. I'll be building a home for a family in need and learning about their culture. I'm happy to return to Guatemala. I visited when I was one and remember it very clearly ;) Actually, my parents picked up my name from there. Jessinia in Guatemala means flower. It does hold a special place in my heart and I'm hoping to find out why when I visit there.
After that, I'll be going to work at a camp for a couple weeks! I'm very excited to return to camp. I always have a wonderful time serving and praising God.
I won't be able to update this as often as I have during the school year. Seems that it should be the opposite, huh? I have written some of the "what's my outfit wednesdays" and "encouraging words" and scheduled them to post when I'm gone. So keep reading and look for updates on my trips :)

What's my {plus my sister's} outfit Wednesday!

This outfit was for my lacrosse banquet last week!

The dress I got on sale but was too big so I took it in and fits me perfectly now.

Recognize it as part of my prom dress?

I went with super straight hair. If I had more time I would have teased it to give it a little more volume.  

I tried ombre nails (from yellow to orange to pink). I love how they turned out!

Aren't these shoes amazing?? I borrowed them from a friend of mine.

I was 5'10" in them!! I love heels, especially these pops of color :)

I just have to share my sister's outfit. It's super cute!

She got her dress at Forever 21.

Her hair (done by me!) is in a sock bun with a small braid wrapped around it.

It's finally Friday! I only have a week until school's done :)
